Recycling colors
Recycling means actually means reprocessing the old materials in new products with an aim to prevent any wastage and reduced consumption of the natural resources. Recycling is the main concept of this modern day waste management and is the third component of “reduce, reuse, and recycle. Several different materials can be recycled. However, for recycling each type of a material a different technique would be used. Recycling colors means using the same colors but with a new name. The new produced ones are very much similar to the original just with another appealing name.
Journey of colors
You remember the so called hot colors from the past couple of decades? The 70’s brought in wood tones, earth tones, browns, almond, oranges, yellows and some others. The 80’s brought for us mauve and grey and others. The 90’s gave way to sage, eggplant, peach, gold’s, and others. The colors are not new but are recycled. Why will the old colors have such a great mass appeal? Just a new name would change the view of masses. For instance, take the color orange. In 90’s, orange word was forbidden in the world of home décor. It was thought orange was of 70’s. Instead, the original orange color was reinvented and reintroduced. However, this time the color was known as peach. Perfect example of in food industry is the prunes. It was popularly known as the old person’s food. Later, the plum industry decided on rebranding it. The new product was called as dried plums. This made the product remains the same. However, the new is appealing to the younger generations. The old color has been reintroduced with new names without any changes in the color properties and became appealing. Doesn’t this sound fascinating?
Appealing color names
In rug industry naming of the color is one of the most important things as the color itself. If you call it as red, it might appeal the people. However, call it scarlet or crimson and it would conjure a more of a romantic mood. Azure is very much interesting as compared to the color blue. Sky blue could be very much a turn off for the people who are looking forward to decorating the living room. However, a wedgewood blue could make the sale stick on. Simply, appealing names of the same colors can set up a mood and attract masses. There are many such colors. Thus, actually new colors are not introduced but the old ones are recycled.
Think the last time you went to a restaurant and think how enticing the menu was. You would recollect that the various items were described in detail using various delicious objects and attractive colors. However, only few realize the color names.
Just a little alteration of the older colors along with mixing other colors, would let reintroduction of the new colors. This, new color would take a new name too. Renaming the original colors that have some alteration is known as recycling of colors.
