Recycling tyres

Recycling tyre

As per the new European law, one is not allowed to dump the car tyres anywhere. This means it is necessary to find a solution for this problem. As per some records, about half a million tonnes of waste tyres were generated of which half of them were reused or recycled. About 15 % of them were used for the purpose of fuel, about 7% were exported and about 6% were used for the landfill construction work. However, still about 59,000 tonnes of tyres are in the land landfill that is waste. These waste resources are fire hazard thus they could be a threat to the environment. As more and more people have started owning cars, the problem of the used tyres has increased at a high rate.

Banned on dumping

The tyres are classed as controlled waste as there would a duty care which would be placed on the waste producers for disposing off the old tyres. This would make them environmental friendly. Dumping only the completely used tyres was banned earlier. However, now it is banned to dump the shredded tyres too. The only exception is the new tyre which would have a diameter larger to 1400 mm also the bicycle tyres. Only these can be disposed off to the landfill sites and they are not banned. Being a consumer, you can extend the life of the ca r or bicycle tyres and collectively over the time it would reduce the number of tyres that need to be disposed every each.

Extending lifetime

Getting the tyres retreated or simply getting retreads would be cheaper and at the same time environmental friendly. It has become mandatory for all to retread tyres. However, in order to retread the tyres, they need to be kept in a good condition as retreading is possible only if the tread has not worn out. Keeping the tyres in a good condition would not only increase the life value of the tyres but also reduce the number of tyres that are disposed every year. Drive at sensible speed and avoid braking and acceleration.

Old tyres

The old tyres could be disposed off in various ways. Tyres could be used at the landfill sites. However, only the small tyres are used. This could exempt the owner from landfill tax. When old tyres are grinded and shredded to small granulates or crumbs, they can be used for varied purposes. The old tyres can also replace the coal which is used in order to fuel the cement kilns. The old tyres could be given a new life by using it for another purpose like play articles, crash barriers, motorways embankments, and others. Some of these tyres are also exported in order to meet up their demand for retread operations.

If you are willing to dispose off the unwanted or some old tyres then you can also contact a tyre retailer who would arrange for disposing it off and charging with a small fee. Dispose off the old tyres in a right way in order to save environment from getting polluted.
